Species: Human, no matter how much he thinks differently.

History:
The Lies of Locke Lamora ; Bondsmagi

Personality:

Egotistical was a word made to define the Falconer. Both his pride and conceit know no bounds. In part, this is due to his society. The Bondsmagi are an elite group of people who possess powers no one else in the world has and act as people with that power would. They lord over an entire city, acting as it's government and protectors but moving as its controllers, using their people's own elections as a political game. Unpowered humans are viewed more as children, if not pets, their lives paling in importance to that of a Bondsmage. In a society like this, it's no wonder that Falconer has adopted such haughtiness, though the degree to which he takes it to is entirely his own.

In Falconer's mind, there is no doubt that unpowered humans are inferior. They are less than pets, they are toys meant to be built up and broken at the Bondsmagi's will. In fact, Falconer is such an extremist in this view that he fully believes the Bondsmagi should utilize their wealth of power and use it to conquer the world. Yeah. He's that douchebag.

When speaking to humans, Falconer makes it clear that they are not in control. He will obey them, as his contractual obligations state, but he will not be their servant. He speaks in a manner that's clearly patronizing, the audible embodiment of a scrunched up nose and detests when humans assume to speak to him as their equal. Again, this is waived in the case of the employer.

Part of Falconer's attitude comes back to the Bondsmagi obsession with control. As with his haughtiness, Falconer takes the need for control to a new level, taking sadistic pleasure in his feats of manipulation. He favors theatrics-making one friend kill another, diving into elaborate villainous speeches as he controls people, etc.-and fully expects to remain in control for the entire ordeal. When opposition rises, he quells it. Unless he can't. Then he just gets mad. It's pretty much a temper tantrum.

Conversely, in the few times people (coughLockecough) have retaliated, his personality takes a complete shift. He becomes an undignified, blubbering mess, pleading for his life and betraying mandates he's supposed to uphold. Granted, this was only in the most severe circumstances, but it's still an important enough shift to note.

Among the Bondsmagi, the Falconer is all but a prodigy save in one regard. He bonds with familiars, a risky magic often frowned upon because of the clear weakness it gives the mage. If someone were to kill the familiar, the mage would suffer for it. Their bodies are shared, their mental state linked, and that is far too vulnerable for most magi. The Falconer, however, would gladly risk it for the reward.

More than he enjoys seeing people in pain, Falconer loves the simplicity of animals. Birds especially, as they give him the freedom of the skies. He likes their rhythm, their innocent preoccupations and, again, knowing that he could take it all away. Still, mostly, he loves the freedom granted by their simplicity. With animals, there is no space for regret or remorse, no justice or vindication. Just the act of being alive. It's something he yearns for and something only bonding with an animal can grant him.

Also, apparently he's charming? This was told rather than shown and I doubt it will ever be brought up since it's implied he's charming to people whom he considers to be at his level. Which will be no one in the fleet. Human's suck, bye.

Basically, what I'm saying is that he's a disney villain.

Abilities:
BONDSMAGE: In the world of the Gentleman Bastards, the Bondsmagi are the only sorcerers in the world. They have a limitless power impeded only by the skill of the mage his/herself. While his skills aren't fully explained, Falconer has been seen exhibiting the following powers: mind/body control, illusion creation, general telekinesis, telepathy, familiar binding, levitation, and teleportation.

Some of the more extreme powers, such as mind/body control, are limited by names. If a Bondsmagi knows a person's birth name, first, last, or full, they will be able to do fatal damage and exercise full mental control over an individual. A puppet, if you will. If a fake name is given, the person with the fake name cannot be controlled. Pain, however, can be instilled whether the Bondsmagi knows their name or not. In-game, that will be changed so that, in order to inflict bodily harm, Falconer must at least know the name of a person (and only with that player's permission, of course). This name may be fake or their birth name.

Augment Skillset: Personnel (seamster)

Sample:

I am not here to ask for information on our circumstance or location. I'm no fool; I have taken the time to educate myself.

Nor am I here to question how I am miraculously healed nor will I complain about it. Indeed, escaping my undignified fate is one of the few benefits of being here.

But what I do want to know is why and how my magic has been limited. I am a Bondsmagi of Karthain. Our power is anything but restricted.
